Is there a future for the

by Frederik Baert (3/21/2005)

Could it be important to create a platform for freelance event producers and assistants? As well from the contractor’s as from the client’s point of view? I guess so!

Let this article opens a dialogue and perhaps we will be able to define our mutual needs later on.

Working on freelance basis is an opportunity for communication agencies and freelance producers. Agencies can easily engage supplementary forces when they are in need… and it enables freelancers to combine with other occupations. But 7 years of dedicated service can’t convince me of the fact that agencies appreciate that we’re there for them. We offer professionalism at reasonable prices because we are there for them when they need us most. But at the same time the idea that we work for several agencies frightens some of them.

I’ve never worked for a client’s client! I’ve never proposed a company a rival agency !

So why should communication agencies be afraid of engaging a “real freelancer”? I hope for the future that the difference between a fix and a freelance collaborator can remain much more than the difference between whether or not we send an invoice by the end of the month.

I look forward to receiving any reactions on that subject. Thanks in advance!
